Procedures, &
Class Expectations

STEPS Performing Arts Center reserves the right to dismiss any student from our program if he, she, or any family members do not comply with studio policies. We also reserve the right to cancel, change a class, or change faculty if necessary.


Weekly attendance is expected. A student's progress in class relies heavily upon consistent participation. Late arrival to class is disruptive and may be harmful to the student who has missed warm-ups. The student may be asked to sit and observe.



Hair must be securely pulled back and off the neck. No t-shirts or baggy pants will be allowed in class. See specific class requirements below. Students not adhering to the dress requirements may not be allowed to participate in class.


Combination Classes: Leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Short, sheer skirts or dance shorts are optional. If Jazz is included in your combo class tan jazz shoes are required.


Ballet: Black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Short, sheer skirts are optional.


Jazz: Leotard, tan tights and tan jazz shoes required. Dance shorts or leggings are allowed.


Jazz Funk: Leotard, tan tights, black jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. Dance shorts or leggings are allowed.


Lyrical: Leotard, tan convertible tights. Lyrical shoes/turners are optional. Dance shorts or leggings are allowed.


Tap: Leotard, tan tights and black, lace-up tap shoes. Shorts or leggings are allowed.

Musical Theater: Shoe requirements vary by student age and class level. Insturctor will provide additional information.


Male Dress Code: Solid color tank or t-shirt, sweatpants or athletic pants. Black shoes.



No child may be left unsupervised for extended periods of time before, after, or between classes. Children under 10 years must be supervised at all times. No running in hallways, playing on furniture or tampering with bathroom facilities. Children will not be supervised outside of the building, pick-up after class should be prompt. When picking up students, no stopping or standing directly in front of studio doors.



Generally, when area schools are closed due to inclement weather, STEPS will be closed as well. Same day closures will be posted to our social media. Classes cancelled, due to weather will not be rescheduled.



Any classes missed may be made up in the current trimester at or below the level of the missed class.



There are no refunds once that trimester has begun. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full tuition refund will be given.



There will be a $25 charge for all returned checks. Tuition payment not received before the last day of the current trimester will be subject to a $10 late fee plus and additional $5 for each week late thereafter.



Bullying, whether in person or on social media, will NOT be tolerated. If there is any bullying brought to our attention we will handle it accordingly.
